Abstract:

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and behavioral disorders in children are growing concerns, affecting academic performance, social interactions, and emotional regulation. Modern treatments, mainly involving pharmaceuticals, provide symptomatic relief but often come with side effects. Ayurveda, a holistic medical system, offers a complementary perspective on managing these disorders by addressing underlying imbalances in Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and incorporating dietary, lifestyle, and herbal interventions. This paper examines Ayurvedic principles for treating ADHD and behavioral disorders, focusing on balancing Vata, promoting mental clarity through Sattva, and utilizing Ayurvedic herbs like Brahmi, Ashwagandha, and Shankhapushpi. By reviewing contemporary studies alongside classical Ayurvedic teachings, this paper presents an integrated approach to ADHD management, offering an alternative or complement to modern treatments.
