Abstract:

Pediatric infections, such as respiratory, gastrointestinal, and skin diseases, pose significant challenges to children’s health worldwide. While modern medicine has developed vaccines, antibiotics, and other curative measures to manage these infections, the ancient system of Ayurveda emphasizes prevention over cure, particularly through its branch of pediatrics known as Kaumar Bhritya. This branch provides a holistic framework for maintaining children's health by balancing Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), boosting immunity (Ojas), and applying specific therapies such as Swarna Prashana, Rasayana, and herbal interventions. These methods not only prevent pediatric infections but also promote overall physical and mental well-being. This paper explores the Ayurvedic approach to infection prevention, drawing on traditional principles, current clinical studies, and evidence of the effectiveness of Swarna Prashana, Rasayana therapies, and herbal interventions such as Tulsi and Guduchi. The integration of Ayurvedic practices with modern healthcare will also be discussed as a means of developing a more holistic and sustainable approach to pediatric healthcare.
